I enjoy editing iPhone photos. I like taking something as raw and crude as an iPhone photo and seeing how far I can take it, seeing how far I can detach it from its origin in hopes people cannot tell what it once was.
A lot of my work is unsettling to a degree, I believe within this one it is the anonymity and ambiguity of the subject that throws the viewer off.
I don't want to limit myself to specific aesthetics so I challenged myself to go for something unseen. A lot of my work is 'overly pure' to the point its unsettling or hyperreal, this aimed to be the opposite.
I edited out shadows, cables, the radiator, her face and all the mis-en-scene on the desk that was not needed.
